Aloha Everyone,
The road to the summit of Mauna Kea is currently open to the public. Please stop at the Visitor Information Station at the 9,200' (2800m) level to acclimate and to talk with the knowledgeable guides who work there. We recommend that children under 16 years of age, pregnant women, anyone with heart or respiratory problems or any other serious health issues, and anyone who has been scuba diving with the past 24 hours NOT travel above the visitor station. The road above the Visitor Information Station is unpaved and steep, and we recommend only 4WD vehicles with experienced drivers travel above the VIS.
Have a great, safe day!
