...WINTER STORM WARNING FOR MAUNA KEA AND MAUNA LOA SUMMITS
THROUGH 6 PM HST MONDAY...

.Deep moisture and instability will increase tonight over the Big
Island and continue through Monday afternoon with snow levels 
around 12,000 feet. Expect additional periods of heavy snow over 
the summmits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa through Monday afternoon. 
Additionally, winds are expected to strengthen late tonight 
through Monday with periods of blizzard-like conditions expected 
on Monday.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of over a foot.
  Winds increasing late tonight through Monday with gusts as high
  as 60 mph. Periods of blizzard-like conditions on Monday.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Snow 
  will significantly reduce visibility at times.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet,
and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Any
travel plans to the summits should be postponed until the threat
diminishes.
