...HEAVY SNOW EXPECTED FOR THE SUMMITS OF MAUNA KEA AND MAUNA LOA
UNTIL THIS EVENING...

.Moist and unstable conditions will produce periods of heavy snow
over the highest summits of the Big Island today. Snow levels are
expected to range between 11,500 and 12,500 feet during this 
event. Below freezing temperatures and high humidity levels will 
bring periods of ice accumulations in addition to the snowfall.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow with additional accumulations of up to 6
  inches. Additional ice accumulations are also expected.

* WHERE...Big Island summits above 11,500 feet in elevation.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult or impossible.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet,
and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
Travel to the summits should be postponed until the threat
diminishes.
