Snow covered and icy roadways leading to the summits will make travel to the summits extremely dangerous. Due to the life-threatening conditions, the National Park Service has closed the road leading to the summit of Haleakala. The road to the summit of Mauna Kea remains closed to the public at this time as well. Travel to the summits should be avoided until the roadways have been cleared from snow and ice and deemed safe for travel. * WHERE...Haleakala Summit and Big Island Summits. * WHEN...Until 6 PM this evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for near zero visibilities at times, along with icy and snow covered roads.
