...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH THE AFTERNOON...

.A cold upper low over the eastern half of the state will
continue to bring wintery weather conditions over Haleakala on
Maui, and the Big Island summits through this afternoon.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Occasional snow showers will continue to impact the
  highest elevations of Haleakala, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa
  through the remainder of the day. Snow covered and icy roadways
  leading to the summits will make travel to the summits extremely
  dangerous. Due to the life-threatening conditions, the National
  Park Service has closed the road leading to the summit of 
  Haleakala. The road to the summit of Mauna Kea remains closed to
  the public at this time as well. Travel to the summits should 
  be avoided until the roadways have been cleared from snow and 
  ice and deemed safe for travel.

* WHERE...Haleakala Summit and Big Island Summits.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM this evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for near zero visibilities at
  times, along with icy and snow covered roads. This is a 
  potentially life threatening situation for anyone traveling to 
  the summits and should be avoided until conditions improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and
limited visibilities, and use extreme caution while driving.
