...WINTER STORM WATCH FOR BIG ISLAND SUMMITS ABOVE 10500 FEET...

.Abundant low to mid level moisture will remain over the Big 
Island through much of the weekend. As a strong upper level 
trough moves overhead on Saturday, heavy snow showers and 
thunderstorms will likely develop.

MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Heavy snow accumulations of 6 inches or more is possible.
  Travel to the summits is discouraged.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits above 10,500 feet.

* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are
  possible. Heavy bursts of snow could be accompanied by low
  visibility and lightning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant
snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact the summits.
Anyone planning travel to the summits, including hikers and
campers, should monitor the latest forecasts and consider
postponing their trip until improved weather returns.
