Monthly Tropical Weather Summary
NWS Central Pacific Hurricane Center Honolulu HI
700 AM HST Tue Dec 1 2020

For the central North Pacific, between 140W and 180W:

The 2020 tropical cyclone season in the central North Pacific
featured an early start followed by four consecutive months without
a single tropical cyclone. Tropical Depression Boris moved into the
basin from the east in June, making it the first June tropical
cyclone in the basin since Barbara in 2001, and only the second on
record (dating back to 1966). A few weeks after Boris, Major
Hurricane Douglas tracked rapidly west-northwest across the entire
basin, and passed dangerously close to the Hawaiian Islands. The
subsequent four month drought included the month of August, which is
typically the busiest month of the season.

Reports on individual tropical cyclones, when completed, are
available at the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) website at
www.hurricanes.gov/data/tcr/index.php?season=2020&basin=cpac

Note, the summary table below only includes tropical cyclones in
the CPHC area of responsibility, and the dates are based on
Universal Coordinated Time, UTC.
